Maru
Spa
The word Maru in Polynesia means “gentle,
soft of sound and soft of touch”. The
giant banyan tree is a symbol of serenity, wisdom and longevity.
The brand new Maru Spa at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa
captures the essence of both with its five treatment rooms – some
set on the waterfront and others 12 feet above the ground in the
branches of two giant banyan trees.
Upon entering the beachfront lobby, the hardwood floors, bamboo
and stone accents capture the essence of the Tahitian Islands.
Two treetop massage/body treatment rooms feature large windows
that open to the lagoon and private outdoor shower, while two beachfront
rooms in the main bungalow can be joined with a center sliding
door for couples massage treatments. A fifth treatment room on
the main level features a bath for water treatments.
The Maru Spa uses many local products and traditional therapies such
as Polynesian monoi oil massage but also maintains an eclectic
menu of specialty massages, baths and skin treatments based on
Asian & European techniques as well. Try the Vanira Moahi,
an aromatic bath with sea salts and Tahitian vanilla followed by
a 50 minute massage or get the jetlag treatment.
From shiatsu
massage to manicures, the Maru Spa is a unique experience – the
only Treetop Spa in French Polynesia.
