Blue
Pineapple
The very popular "Blue Pineapple" moved their
operation to the Club Bali Hai Pool Bar on May 18th after losing
everything to a fire last May. They are an immediate success; serving
breakfast and lunch 7AM to 3PM daily. Yes, those monster pancakes,
poisson cru, grilled hamburgers, fish dishes, omelets and super
fries are still available.
Le
Pecheur
(The Fisherman)
Under new management we hear. Some fancy
seafood specialties. Free pick up.
Closed Wednesday.
Le
Sud
(The South)
A new restaurant
that we hear good things about in the village of Maharepa. Nicely
lit with a varied menu. Next to the banks across from the shopping
area where the post office is. They do not pick up or accept credit
cards yet, but the food is well recommended.
Allo
Pizza
The favorite with
all is "Allo Pizza", that is all they do, make great pizza and they
deliver, allow a half hour or so. Or, if you are walking, turn left
out of the Club, ten minute walk, you will see their oven on the
right.
Closed Mondays.

The
Mahogany
Excellent varied menu from steaks to Chinese to local delicacies
at reasonable prices. New tables outside in a nice atmosphere.
Francois, who was formerly the Chef at the Hotel Bali Hai, knows
what you like. Call them for pick up.
Closed Wednesday. Good wine and beers.
Alfredo's
Across the street
from the Club, a one minute walk. The Club's favorite and rightfully
so. Soup, Alfredo's salads, pick your own live lobster in the tank,
other sea foods, steaks and of course, some great Italian dishes.
On Sundays and Thursdays arrive early as there is music and singing,
you join in. The amiable Christian runs it all, you can't miss him.
Closed Monday.
Snack
Rotui
At the foot of
Cook's Bay, a 15 minute walk from the Club Bali Hai. They are open
daily (except Monday) from 7,30am to 5pm (on Sunday they open at
8am). Sell sandwiches, fried chicken, cakes, soft drinks, and daily
luncheon plates, etc.
Restaurant
Chez Jean Pierre
You'd never guess
by the name, but this is a good Chinese restaurant just 10 minutes
by foot from the Club Bali Hai. Just past the restaurant "Honu Iti
(The Little Turtle).
Closed Sunday noon, Monday night and all day Wednesday.

The
Cocotier
A surprise, and delightful small restaurant set in a Tahitian garden.
Two charming happy Tahitian girls will greet and serve you. The
menu is exquisite as are the wines. Don't miss the Mahi mahi with
almonds dish. Pascal the owner/chef who does everything, will stop
by to see you. You may have to chip in on the pick up vehicle, it's
worth it. Moderate prices.
Closed Tuesday.
The
Little Turtle
Make absolutely sure
that you plan a 5 minute walk at least one night to Roger's The
Little Turtle. Don't call for a pick-up, they are too busy giving
excellent service from a first class menu. Take a table on the verandah
(they call it the terrace), look at the fish under the light below
and contemplate the menu accompanied by excellent wines.
Open 7 nights, you will return.
Chez
Claudine et Jules
A great little
food wagon located at the main dock beside the Fish Market. Take-away
or eat there. Good prices and generous portions. A popular eating
place for the Moorea residents.
Closed Mondays. Open 6pm to 8.30pm. |
