4x4 Jeep Safari
Explore the interior of Raiatea with its mountains,
rivers and waterfalls. This is the only way to see the interior
of this magnificent island. The west coast is covered with picture-postcard
beaches; the east is dotted with waterfalls that tumble from verdant
hills. On the road up to Mt. Tapioi in the north is a lookout point
with a spectacular view over the main city of Uturoa and the neighboring
islands of Taha'a and Huahine. Farther south are the deep bays of
Faaroa (the deepest in French Polynesia), Opoa and Faatemu.
You'll
pass through Vairahi, residence of Queen Pomare during her exile,
and Tevaitoa, the starting point for a trip up Mt. Temehani. This
is the only place in the world where the rare tiare apetahi
flower will grow. Throughout your safari you'll delight to the rich
scent of vanilla, the stunning hues of white sand beaches against
the blue lagoon, and the palpable mystery of Polynesian culture. |
