Interior Island Safari
Get a closer look at Tahiti's
interior, a land of unbounded natural beauty where almost-vertical
vegetable plantations edge their way into bamboo and fern forests,
and waterfalls cascade into hidden pools watched over by stone-faced
tiki.
 Enjoy
a 1/2-day excursion to the summit of Mt. Marau. The 4200-ft. summit
of the mountain overlooks Moorea, Tetiaroa and Papeete Harbor.
En route, you'll see the magnificent Diademe formation and the
Fataua waterfall.
If you have a full day to devote to exploring the island interior,
you're in for a treat. A full-day safari includes lunch at the
unique Relais de la Maroto and a visit to their extensive wine
cellar. The journey also takes in several maraes or ancient stone
temples.
